Geza Gyorke "Crucifix"

/ 10.08.2021—01.09.2021 /

Strength and tenderness, rational and sensual, tragedy and vitality, the magic of the plasticity of colour and existential living of meanings of the being are combined in the series "Crucifix" by Geza Gyorke (born in 1991). A graduate of the Lviv National Academy of Arts (graduated in 2014), a student of I. Shumsky, J. Shimin, A. Maksymenko, L. Medvid, M. Andrushchenko, Geza has developed an original figurative-plastic concept in which the search for form, harmony of colors and textures gives birth to the deep sacred meaning.

The idea's origin was prompted by the Volyn plein airs, whose creative property is compositionally balanced canvases with stylized roadside crosses on the background of hills, temples, and houses.

In the field of history and art, G. Gyorke's series is perceived as a reflection on artistic interpretations of the theme of the Crucifixion and its original reading in modern contexts of life.
