“Synaxis of the Archangel Michael and the Other Bodiless Powers of Heaven” is the name of a feast established in the 4th century and celebrated in the Eastern Churches on November 8.
The feast commemorates the gathering of the angelic hosts after the defeat of Lucifer and his army; it symbolizes fidelity to God and the refusal to follow the fallen angel — Lucifer.
In this project, the author aimed to depict various scenes from the Holy Scriptures showing angelic actions, as well as to present archangels known only from tradition and apocryphal sources.
Anna draw inspiration from icons characteristic of the western regions of Ukraine, Pokuttia and Hutsul reverse-glass painting, as well as naive sacred art and oleographs from the early 20th century.
