ULIANA KREKHOVETS "BLESSED BE YOU"

/ 20.09.2024—03.11.2024 /

A blessing is like the quiet that slips through the storm when the world rages around us. It is the delicate thread that connects us to something greater than ourselves.

Since the time of Adam and Eve, humanity has always sought blessings. From the words "Grace be with you, the Lord is with you," to prayers offered under the Crucifix, and the presence of household and miraculous icons—blessings have been a sacred link, connecting generations, families, and nations, holding within them the mercy of God.

This exposition is divided into two parts: the history of blessings as mentioned in the Holy Scriptures, and household icons of revered saints, which serve as tangible objects of blessing. I especially focus on the figure of the Mother of God, under whose protection we stand today, and whose guidance we trust for our native land.

Mary not only received a blessing but became a source of blessing for all humanity through her Son. From the joy of His birth to the sorrow of His death on the cross, the Virgin embodies the depth of maternal love and sacrifice. Today, her image offers strength to mothers who have lost their children to the injustice and cruelty of war, enveloping them with an invisible veil of protection. Her love reflects the presence of God—both in moments of joy and in profound grief—keeping despair at bay and inspiring even greater dedication and love.

Bless this day, O Lord, and fill it with Your mercy and peace!
