Albina Yaloza “Touch”

/ 24.05.2022—19.06.2022 /

Albina Yaloza started working on the “Touch” project before the war but has only just finished it. The core idea has been changed. It was about Albina’s reflections upon her deeply personal emotions, now it is about the emotional experience we all share. The central part depicts a well-known scene from the Bible, the Deposition of Christ. We see a limp body, we understand that it is dead, and we are overwhelmed by despair, fear, and boundless love… Like a naked nerve, we react to the slightest touch… That is Ukraine today. No matter how many stages of denial and despair we go through, there is nothing but the bitterness of comprehension and, ultimately, acceptance. Each and every one of us draws his or her own conclusions, healing their wounds as best as they can. The key question posed by the artist is can we accept these sacrifices and be reborn?
